Yumu Tap Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-23 · Version: v1.0

1. What we collect.

  • Email address — only if you sign in; used for one-time-code login and account identity.
  • Voice audio (push-to-talk recognition) — audio captured while you press and hold to talk is streamed over an encrypted (TLS) connection to our speech service and converted to text; releasing stops capture, and the app never listens to ambient sound in the background. The speech service processes audio only in volatile storage such as server memory — never written to disk or stored in a database — and deletes it as soon as processing completes; it is not retained in any form, including short-term.
  • Transcripts and recordings — stored on your device by default, never uploaded (except the samples you consent to upload via "Help Improve Recognition"; see Section 4).
  • Feedback you submit — the text you submit through the Feedback feature, any screenshot and diagnostics you choose to attach (version, device, recent logs; no transcription content), and technical information necessary to handle the report (such as your IP address). Used solely to process your feedback.
  • Diagnostics — anonymized error types and timestamps for troubleshooting; never speech content.

2. Permissions. Microphone: active only while you press and hold to talk; release stops capture. The app never listens to ambient sound in the background.

3. How we use it. Providing speech recognition, account authentication and multi-device management, cross-app account and usage accounting shared between Yumu and Yumu Tap, service stability, handling feedback you submit, and — only with your separate consent — improving the recognition model (corpus samples; see Section 4). As of this version's date, we do not sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or embed third-party ad or behavioral-analytics SDKs. Should a future version introduce advertising or such SDKs, we will update this policy first, notify you prominently in-app, and provide ways to opt out as required by law.

4. Help Improve Recognition (optional feature). "Help Improve Recognition" is an entirely voluntary, opt-in-only feature. After you turn it on:

  1. What is collected. At the end of each press-to-talk session, the session's audio recording (AAC/m4a) and the corresponding transcript are uploaded together as one sample, solely to improve our speech-recognition models.
  2. Anonymity and weak association. Samples contain no account information — no email address or device identifiers. On the server, a sample is only weakly associated with your account through an anonymous identifier that cannot be directly resolved back to you (used for anti-abuse quotas such as daily upload limits).
  3. Purpose limitation. Samples are never used for any purpose other than improving the recognition models, never shared with any third party, and never used to identify or infer your personal identity.
  4. Your control. You can turn the feature off at any time in the app's Settings; uploading stops immediately. Requests to delete already-uploaded samples may be made through the in-app feedback channel.
  5. Preconditions. The feature uploads only while you are signed in; the number of uploads per day is capped by a quota.
  6. Explicit consent. The feature turns on only after you have read this clause and actively confirmed your consent; the app never enables it by default.

5. Storage. Servers are located in mainland China. Audio for live recognition is processed only in volatile storage such as server memory for the ongoing recognition and is discarded immediately afterwards — never written to disk or stored in a database. Corpus samples you consented to upload (recordings and transcripts) are stored on servers and object storage in mainland China and retained as long as necessary for improving the recognition model; request deletion via the in-app feedback channel or support@welomo.com. Feedback you submit (including screenshots and diagnostics) is retained only as long as necessary to process it. Account data is deleted or anonymized after account deletion; diagnostic logs are kept for at most 90 days.

6. Sharing. We do not share your personal information except: with your consent; as required by law or competent authorities; or the minimum necessary with app stores (Apple/Google) to process transactions under their terms.

7. Your rights. You may access, correct or delete your personal information, delete your account, and withdraw consent (uninstalling stops all collection). Yumu and Yumu Tap share the same account — deleting it through either app or through the channel below deletes the same shared account. Contact support@welomo.com — we respond within 15 business days.

8. Children. The Service is not directed to children under 14. If we learn that we have collected a child's information, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes. Material changes to this policy will be announced in-app.
