Yumu Privacy Policy (International)

Last updated: 2026-09-12 · Version: v1.0 · Applies to users in the United States, Canada, Australia and other regions served through Google Play outside mainland China

We (Shanghai Cuma Network Technology Co., Ltd. 上海簇马网络科技有限公司) know your information matters to you. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, where it is processed, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the processing described here.

1. What we collect.

2. Permissions. Microphone: active only while listening is on; you can revoke it in your system settings at any time.

3. How we use it. Providing speech recognition, account authentication and multi-device management, crediting purchases and usage accounting, service stability, handling feedback you submit, and — only with your separate consent — improving the recognition model (corpus samples; see Section 4). We do not sell your personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, do not embed third-party advertising or behavioral-analytics SDKs, and do not create voiceprints, speaker profiles or other biometric templates from your audio. Should a future version introduce advertising or such SDKs, we will update this policy first, notify you prominently in-app, and provide ways to opt out as required by law.

4. Help Improve Recognition (optional feature). "Help Improve Recognition" is an entirely voluntary, opt-in-only feature. After you turn it on:

  1. What is collected. At the end of each listening session, the session's audio recording (AAC/m4a) and the corresponding transcript are uploaded together as one sample to the Yumu team, solely to improve our speech-recognition models.
  2. Anonymity and weak association. Samples contain no account information — no email address or device identifiers. On the server, a sample is only weakly associated with your account through an anonymous identifier that cannot be directly resolved back to you (used for anti-abuse quotas such as daily upload limits).
  3. Purpose limitation. Samples are never used for any purpose other than improving the recognition models, never shared with any third party, and never used to identify or infer your personal identity, including through voiceprints or other biometric means.
  4. Your control. You can turn the feature off at any time in the app's Settings; uploading stops immediately. Requests to delete already-uploaded samples may be made through the in-app feedback channel or support@welomo.com.
  5. Preconditions. The feature uploads only while you are signed in; the number of uploads per day is capped by a quota.
  6. Explicit consent. The feature turns on only after you have read this clause and actively confirmed your consent; the app never enables it by default.

5. Where your data is processed; retention. Your data is transmitted over an encrypted (TLS) connection through Cloudflare, a third-party network provider that acts only as a transmission service for us, to servers we operate that are located in mainland China. Audio for live recognition is processed only in volatile storage such as server memory for the ongoing recognition and is discarded immediately afterwards — never written to disk or stored in a database. Corpus samples you consented to upload (recordings and transcripts) are stored on servers and object storage in mainland China and retained as long as necessary for improving the recognition model; request deletion via the in-app feedback channel or support@welomo.com. Feedback you submit (including screenshots and diagnostics) is retained only as long as necessary to process it. Diagnostic logs are kept for at most 90 days. When you delete your account, your account profile, subscriptions, usage records and device credentials are deleted; we retain only purchase-transaction records required for legal and accounting purposes and security-audit logs.

6. Sharing. We do not share your personal information except: with your consent; as required by law or competent authorities; the minimum necessary with Google Play to process transactions under its terms; and with transmission providers (such as Cloudflare) that process data solely to deliver the service on our behalf.

7. Your rights; account deletion. You may access, correct or delete your personal information, delete your account, and withdraw consent (uninstalling stops collection; turning off "Help Improve Recognition" stops sample upload). You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account, confirmed with a verification code sent to your account email) or via https://www.welomo.cn/apps/yumu/account-deletion if you no longer have the app. Requests may be submitted in English or French to support@welomo.com; we respond within 15 business days. Additional rights for residents of the United States, Canada and Australia are described in Section 9.

8. Children. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected a child's information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@welomo.com.

9. Regional information.

10. Changes. Material changes to this policy will be announced in-app.
